Rooted in faith, driven by Purpose-- we channel Zaka, Sadaqah, and Waqf donations into lasting impact. From humble beginnings to a National Mission, we serve a divine bridge between wealth and Impact.

Zakat and Sadaqah have long been integral parts of the Al-Hayat Relief Foundation’s welfare schemes. Since the early days of the Foundation, these two pillars of Islamic giving were coordinated through a central body known as the Zakat and Sadaqah Committee at the national level. The committee was responsible for overseeing the collection and distribution of funds to support individuals and families in need, in line with Islamic principles.

However, as the scale of need grew and the importance of institutionalizing Islamic social finance became more apparent, it was necessary to adopt a more structured and strategic approach. To enhance performance and ensure the sustainability of the programme, the Zakat and Sadaqah scheme was upgraded and formally repackaged as the Directorate of Zakat, Sadaqah and Waqf. This move was aimed at positioning the initiative as a key player in Nigeria’s poverty alleviation efforts, using the divine mechanisms laid out by Islam.

The Directorate of Zakat, Sadaqah and Waqf was officially inaugurated in April 2021, with a Director appointed to lead the team. Additionally, six members were carefully selected from across the Foundation’s then four administrative zones to support the work of the Directorate. Together, they brought structure, innovation, and a renewed sense of purpose to the administration of Zakat and Sadaqah.

In a significant step forward, the initiative transitioned into a fully independent entity with the establishment and registration of the Al-Hayat Zakat, Sadaqah and Waqf Foundation in 2024. The Foundation formally commenced operations in 2025, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the journey to fight poverty, promote social justice, and build a future rooted in compassion and sustainability.

The Foundation is committed to utilizing Zakat, Sadaqah, and Waqf as powerful tools for community empowerment. With a strong focus on transparency, ethical management, and impact-driven programmes, it works across various sectors including education, healthcare, economic support, and community development. The Foundation also seeks meaningful partnerships with mosques, private sector organizations, and international bodies to expand its reach and effectiveness.

At Al-Hayat Zakat, Sadaqah and Waqf Foundation, we believe that giving is not just a duty—it is a path to lasting reward, a means of uplifting others, and a powerful expression of faith in action. Through Allah’s designed systems of wealth redistribution and charity, we aim to make a lasting difference in the lives of individuals and communities across Nigeria and beyond.
